Julie Chen Moonves, who was one the original hosts and moderators for The Talk (a Daytime Emmy Award winner talk show), returned August 5 for the 22nd season. It was only when she began writing that her passion for writing emerged. Her hosting an exceptional entertainment talk show has earned her an additional Emmy. The Talk examines contemporary events using the perspective of five hosts. Chen Moonves hosted CBS News The Early Show's early morning news program The Early Show for a decade. Before that, Chen Moonves was the CBS Morning News' anchor in addition to being the anchor for news on The Early Show. Chen Moonves was sent to Cairo following the events of the terrorist attacks of 9/11. There, she tracked down and talked to the father of hijackers to an eye-opening, fascinating interview. Chen Moonves has interviewed newsmakers including former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and the Queen Rania of Jordan as well as the former Defense Secretary William Cohen, and celebrities such as Denzel Washington, Angelina Jolie, Kanye West, Taylor Swift, Viola Davis, Tom Hanks, Mary J. Blige, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Cruise, Ben Affleck, Barbra Streisand, Betty White, Jamie Foxx, Scarlett Johansson, Katie Holmes, Matthew McConaughey, Chris Rock, Mel Brooks, Robert DeNiro, and Jennifer Lopez. Chen Moonves has also worked with CBS's New York City station WCBS, as a reporter, anchor, and anchor (1997-1999). Before becoming a part of CBS News in 1995, Chen Moonves had been as a reporter at WDTN TV Dayton. She also served as a producer at ABC NewsOne (1992-1995), the news affiliate of CBS, and she was a desk assistant in ABC News' Los Angeles bureau (1990-1991) as she completed her final year at the University of Southern California. The desk was hers to ABC News' Nightline program with Ted Koppel. Ted Koppel has remained as one of her journalist idols. Chen Moonves worked with Koppel on the Columbia du-Pont-winning show on primetime, Anatomy of a Riot in 1992, which focused on the Los Angeles riots.
